I have had a headache for a month now. My doc is telling me it is because I am stressed and they are “tension headaches”. I am freaking myself out that it is a brain tumour or something awful like that but I do have a TON of tension in my back and neck and am pretty stressed at work. Could pounding daily headaches honestly be caused by this?
He is sending me for a CT scan for my own sake, saying there is not a big chance it will show anything….
My problem is that no pain killers are cutting it and that is what is scaring me. My neck and jaw and head are sooo so sore, I dont know what to do
Any suggestions or has anyone else experienced this?
Do you think I could have a brain tumour?

Hello all. I am trying to see if i can get advice on this. A week or so ago I was out with friends, had a couple of glasses of wine (nothing more than the usual) and a full meal. On the way home I was so ill i told my husband to pull over. Since then, every single day I have had a headache that has gone from each temple to the front of my head, and to the base of my skull. I have been prescribed immitrex which gave me horrible side effects, and another one which will dull the pain and put me to sleep. When I wake up, same pain, and same constant nausea. It’s not a throbbing “wow I have a tension headache” type pain, its a I feel like “someone is in there squeezing my brain and not letting go” type of pain. No real problems with lights or sounds, although I am a little sensitive just bc of the headache. I have had a preg. test and is negative and blood results fine. Any suggestions before I lose my mind?
I guess I should add on that in the past I have had at least one concussion on the top of my head that was bad enough for me to have a ct scan which was neg, and when I was very young they found a small cyst on my sinus in my forehead that they told me not to worry about and would go away. I hear these are common and don’t usually cause complications. I have had people (including docs) say this could be migraines which may or may not be, but this has been over a week of nonstop pain. I know migraines can last for a few hrs/days, but a week and a half nonstop??No fever, body aches, sensitivity to light/sound, auras, anything. The only thing that helps are the strong meds they put me on to knock me out so that I can at least sleep without holding my head in pain. Is the lack of normal migraine symptoms common with other migraine sufferers? Or does this sound like it could be something else? If you suffer from migraines or have head trauma that this would sound familiar pls respond

I started off getting a headache every afternoon around 2. Then I got it in the mornings too. And then in the evenings. Now’s it’s been almost 5 weeks, and I have a headache 24/7.There is not a single second when my head doesn’t hurt. The pain is always at the back of my head, but will occasionally also hurt somewhere else. I am also sweating more. I never had a problem with that before, but now I’ll put on a 24-hour deodorant and have to reapply every 3 hours. My last 2 periods have come a week late, and my eyes get bloodshot every couple days. Tylenol, Aleve, Acetaminophen, and Allergy medicine does not affect the headache at all.
I went to the doctor one week ago. I have low blood pressure: something over 55. But my mom’s side of the family does have a history of that. So aside from that, he said everything they usually check is fine. He ruled out Sinus, Allergies, and Migraines. I’m not stressed at all–ive actually been really happy–and my diet hasn’t changed recently. They did blood work (which came back normal!) and temporarily gave me tension headache meds to relieve the pain until they figure out what’s wrong. I might as well be eating tictacs because they don’t do anything for the pain either. They prescribed me a migraine medicine yesterday. This is the exact same med my mom uses for migraines. I tried it on Saturday and it didn’t work then–I woke up from the nap and my head still hurt. I’m not spending $85 when I know it didn’t work on Saturday.
My doc is out on vacation until Monday.
Help?!!!
Also, light and sound do not affect it at all. So it’s definitely not migraine.

Ok so I finally went to the doctor. He did a CAT scan which came up clean and blood work for Mono (why, i have no idea) and thyroid something and one other thing but they call came up clean.
He didn’t care much about my restless arms ….
He focused on the sleepiness and headache
He prescribed me MethyIPREDNISolone (Steroid) and ESGIC (pain pill)
I’m on day 4 of 6… my headache hasn’t changed one bit. Pain pills do nothing. Not even 1000 mg of Ibreprophen. He’s treating me like a “Tension Headache” because he doesn’t know what else to do.
Please for the love of god or whatever there is, any ideas?

For the past couple days ive been dealing with a severe headache/ burning at the base of my head/skull. It started friday night when I was trying to go to sleep. I took advil to try to alieve the pain but it wouldn’t go away. I finally fell asleep and woke up with the headache multiple times in the middle of the night. I went to the store and bought Excedrin for tension headaches but that doesn’t seem to be helping me either. When I woke up this morning I felt completely worse, Im very dizzy, light headed and very tired. And I keep getting this burning on the back of my head. Im very confused with what is going on with me. Ive never had this type of headache and didn’t know if anyone could help me out with it..

Hi everyone. So this morning I woke up around 8 am, and decided to comb my hair. I had a huge tangle at the base of my neck so i parted my hair in half, then i took the front portion of my left side of hair and placed it on the right side of my head. My hair is fairly thick and long, and quite heavy. After coming my hair, I felt a weird sensation on the back of my head. It was on the left side and it gradually became more sensitive to touch. Now, the pain has decreased since I took some Excedrin tension headache but I can still feel the sensation. I read somewhere that this may be a pinched nerve but I want to know what is the true cause of this? Shouild I get a CAT scan? I’ve gotten these before, not frequently but last year I got one. Also, can this kind of a headache lead to other health problems such as tumors? Please let me know for i am very worried. Oh and how can I get rid of this pain? Thanks in advance!
oh, one more thing, if i do get this scan, how much does it cost? my family only has emergency insurance and i don’t think that we are covered for x-rays.
